Cooties are Real…
It all happened innocently enough and I never thought it would happen to me. I am one of those people that hear about scary stuff and blow it off as media hype. In the past I have been a very lucky girl, nothing bad has ever really happened to me. I have had the flu a few times and I think I may have had the chicken pox when I was very small but nothing like this has ever happened to me. I remember the moment clearly and at the time thought of it as a sweet moment that we shared as a couple.
We were having a quiet evening in, enjoying each other’s company and laughing while sharing a small plate of Tollhouse cookies. He has always eaten a little faster than me, I have always thought it was cute (well, sometimes cute). He managed to hoover his cookies down in record time on this particular evening leaving me clutching on to the last cookie for dear life. I can’t really blame him; after all, they are Tollhouse cookies. He jokingly made a remark about me taking the last cookie and asked for a bite. I giggled and taunted him a little bit before giving in. I didn’t know it at the time but that’s when it happened.
A few days later I was feeling a little off but thought nothing of it. When my strange symptoms turned into strange behaviors I decided to consult my physician. I explained everything to her and she ran a few tests. At the end of the week, my physician called, asking me to come in that day to discuss the test results. When I finally made it down to her office she sat me down and explained the seriousness of the situation to me. To sum up the conversation, she informed me that I had contracted cooties. All of this information sounded so scary to me at the time. I had heard of cooties but did not know a lot about it. My doctor told me about CCDD (circlecircle dotdot) shot therapy. I was a bit hesitant at first (I’m not a big fan of shots) and I even searched the internet for other possible cures for this scary thing that I had caught. After a lot of research and even more thought CCDD seemed the best treatment so I went with it. With a few weeks of therapy I am glad to report that I am back to full health.
As a preventative for future exposure I am going to start taking a yearly CCSS (circle circle square square) shot. I asked the doc if there was a shot that he could takes as well. I was told that boy cooties cannot be cured in males. It would be like trying to cure him of being male, which is technically possible but we will leave that subject alone for right now.
